Indians have a various refreshing and hydrating drinks that makes you perfect feel for the summer season. These indian summer drinks are not only the delicious but also helping you the body cool and replenished. Here are some popular and traditional indian summer drinks : 

1. Nimbu Pani (Shikanji)

This is essentially that the indian summer drinks Indian version of lemonade. This cost-effective drink is made with freshly squeezed lemon juice, water, and sugar.  Sometimes other ingredients such as mint leaves, black salt, or a pinch of roasted cumin are added for flavor. This chilled drink is known for its tangy flavor. Nimbu Pani is a healthier alternative to fizzy drinks due to its natural ingredients.

Recipe of making Nimbu Pani:

  • Squeeze the lemons with the squeezer or with the help of your hand to extract the juice and remove the seeds.
  • In a large mixing bowl add lemon juice, sugar, black salt, roasted cumin powder and chilled water. Stir until sugar is mixed.
  • You can refrigerate the drink before serving it or add a few ice cubes to chill it.

  • Pour into tall glasses and enjoy it.

2. Lassi

Lassi is a creamy and frothy yogurt-based traditional Punjabi cold drink. Many variations of lassi range from namkeen (salty) or meethi (sweet). Namkeen Lassi (salty lassi) is a blend of yogurt, salt, and cumin. It is usually consumed after a hot day. Meethi Lassi (sweet lassi) is a blend of yogurt, milk, and sugar. Additionally, flavored lassi incorporates fruits and herbs.

Recipe of making Lassi:

  • Add all the ingredients homemade yogurt, chilled milk (or water), sugar, ground cardamom, and ice cubes in a blender.
  • Blend until it becomes smooth and frothy. Adjust the consistency, according to your preference, by adding more milk (or water) or blending in some ice cubes.
  • Pour the sweet lassi into serving glasses and top with slivered nuts and dried rose petals. Serve immediately

3. Falooda

It is one of the best Indian summer drinks that showcase a symphony of flavors and textures. Falooda is a visually appealing, multi-layered dessert drink. It combines sweet, creamy, chewy, and crunchy flavors. It’s a mixture of falooda sev, milk, ice cream, jelly, basil seeds, and syrup. While enjoying falooda, you experience an indulgent symphony of flavors, ranging from the sweet flavor of rooh afza to the rich ice cream, gooey falooda sev, and the crunchy nuts on top.

Recipe of making Falooda:

  • Add 2 tablespoons of soaked sweet basil seeds to a tall glass
  • Layer over 2 tablespoons of cooked noodles
  • Add 2 tablespoons of the rose syrup
  • Pour ⅔ cup of milk
  • Top  with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream
  • You can optionally garnish with shaved pistachios or nuts and rose petals.

4. Pyar Mohabbat Sharbat

Pyar Mohabbat Sharbat means to “love drink”. Pyar Mohabbat Sharbat gained popularity from a streetside vendor who invented this drink to serve during Ramadan. This super simple and easy drink is made by mixing chopped watermelon, cold milk, and rooh afza. In a tall glass, add ice, watermelon mixture. This rosy drink is delicious and delightful. 5. Rooh Afza Drink

The Rooh Afza Sharbat is not just a drink, but an entire emotion for us Indians. I have grown up drinking this indian summer drinks beverage and I can tell you that no other drink refreshes the soul like this one does. It is a regular in most Indian homes. Rooh Afza Sharbat is a cooling and refreshing drink made with rooh afza syrup, water or milk, sugar and ice cubes. It bis typically served during hot summer days as it has cooling properties.

Recipe of making Rooh Afza Drink:

  • In a large mixing glass, add chilled water, rooh afza syrup, sugar, lemon juice, and ice cubes. Mix slowly using a spoon or whisker until well combined.

  • Serve chilled. Add soaked sabja seeds if desired.

6. Jaljeera

Jaljeera and summers are synonymous. This North indian summer drinks, non-alcoholic, vegan beverage is not just popular because of its simplicity, but is yummy and has great health benefits too. Made with water, cumin and other amazing ingredients, Jaljeera drink is refreshing, easy to make and the perfect thing to cool yourself with, in the sweltering Indian heat.

Recipe of making Jaljeera:

Step 1 Chop mint & coriander leaves

  • This authentic Indian drink is perfect for summers and is a perfect delight for taste buds. What makes Jaljeera a must-have is the use of ingredients that aids digestion. Clean and wash the mint and coriander leaves. Then finely chop the leaves.

Step 2 Prepare the jaljeera in the blender

  • Take a large glass bowl and add chopped mint leaves, chopped coriander leaves, seedless tamarind, roasted cumin seeds, chopped ginger in a blender jar along with asafoetida, salt, black salt, sugar and lemon juice. Next, add 4 cups of water in the jar and blend the mixture until all the ingredients are completely blended together.

Step 3 Strain in a bowl & pour Jaljeera into glasses

  • When done, strain the mixture into a bowl and discard the roughage remaining of the mixture. Meanwhile, arrange the glasses on the clean and dry counters. Pour the mixture equally in the glasses and also pour the remaining water in the glasses, mix well. Also, put the 2-4 ice cubes in the glasses. Serve immediately. 

7. Thandai

Thandaai is cool and refreshing indian summer drinks made in the unique style by gathering several flavorful herbs and spices. Indians most often make it on their special occasions and festivals. 

Recipe of making thandai:

  • Heat the water in a big vessel and bring to few boils.
  • Add cloves, cardamoms, fennel seeds, carom seeds and peppercorns.
  • Stir for few seconds and add blanched and chopped dry fruits along with raisins and melon seeds.
  • Mix very well and switch off the gas.
  • Keep aside at least for 30 minutes.
  • Now blend the mixture until turns into smooth texture.
  • Pour the blended mixture into the strainer and squeeze out as much as you can to get the maximum liquid form.
  • Now combine the milk and saffron very well.
  • Mix in the thandaai and refrigerate for few hours.
  • Serve chilled.
